Christmas is almost here, but if you’re putting off hanging up your decorations because you know your cat will just rag them all down within minutes, then worry no more, as Argos has come to your rescue.
The retailer is flogging these specially designed ‘half Christmas trees’, which will keep your cat’s claws far away from low-hanging baubles and also offer loads of extra room for presents and/or activities. Win/win, I say.
According to the product’s description, the 6ft-parasol tree will: “Keep your perfectly placed baubles, bows and bells out of reach of curious, crawling kids or your cats’ playful paws.” Ideal.
It goes on: “If Santa’s been extra generous, there’s plenty of room to stack pressies underneath rather than scattering them around it. It’s also a great alternative to the traditional tree if you’re a tad tight for space.”
The lush green trees are currently on sale for £33.33, which seems like an odd amount, but is also pretty bloody cheap, so if you’re sick of retrieving baubles scattered about the place every morning because of Tiddles and Felix, now’s your chance to end all that.
If green ain’t your thing, then there’s always a lovely ‘snow-covered’ option, or as Argos puts it a “stunning realistic looking artificial Christmas tree with snow covered effect and root stand, perfect for any room.” The white-trees are a few quid more expensive, costing £37.50, but can you put a price on not having to shout at your cats every five minutes? Arguably, no.
The trees are going down a storm with festive shoppers and the snow-covered option boasts an impressive 4.8 stars (out of five) based on 144 reviews.
I personally reckon it’ll be worth it just to see the disappointed look on your cat’s face when it realises it can’t destroy something you’ve spent hours putting together. Of course, if your cat is really savvy, it’ll still find a way to climb up and completely wreck the tree anyway, it’s what they do best.
If you fancy setting your feline the challenge, you can order one here. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.
